Individual Project
Boys are given a menu of Total Defence activities to choose to participate in. Different activities on the menu, depending on their difficulty level, will have different points pegged to them. Pupils have to obtain a minimum number of 25 points to pass this activity, and they have to cover at least two aspects of Total Defence in their choice of activities.

After they have completed their activities, pupils are to share their learning points/experiences with their peers.

Psychological Defence
5 point - Compile a set of pictures/photos of our national symbols (at least 3), accompanied by a short write-up of their significance/ symbolism.
5 point - Design a jacket for a book promoting the arts in Singapore.
5 point - Compile a set of pictures/photos of our national landmarks (at least 3), accompanied by a short write-up of their significance and history.
10 point - Design a 1-day tour itinerary for a heritage trail around Singapore (including a short description of each place).
10 point - Design a 1-day tour itinerary on World War II-related sites in Singapore (including a short description of each place).
15 point - You are a cub reporter for your school’s newsletter. Produce a short article (with photos) on the highlights of any of the museums in Singapore.

Social Defence
5 point - Compile a list of ‘dos’ & ‘don’ts’ for the customs of our ethnic groups (at least 3 ‘dos’ and 3 ‘don’ts’ for each ethnic group chosen).
5 point - Produce a cassette tape on everyday phrases/greetings in our four main languages (at least 10 phrases/greetings). Design a ‘Singapore cookbook’ with at least 2 traditional dishes for each of our ethnic groups.

Civil Defence
5 point - Prepare a first aid kit for your home.
5 point - Design a poster highlighting basic fire safety/prevention measures.
5 point - Compile a list of your school’s nearest bomb shelters, their locations and the procedures for participation in a bomb shelter exercise.
10 point - Design a guide-book on basic first aid skills.
10 point - The Singapore Civil Defence Force is recruiting Civil Defence volunteers. Design a brochure to encourage people to volunteer.
10 point - There is going to be a 1-day Civil Defence camp in your school to help pupils learn about Civil Defence and pick up various skills. Design a programme of activities for the camp.

Due to School work and personal Issues, NCO Council Chairman, CPL Liew Chong Kit feels that he is not able to handle all the stress and has decided to step down from his current position as a Council Chairman.
The NCO Council members have conducted a meeting to address this issue and appointed CPL Manfred Foo to take over the position as the New Council Chairman.
CPL Manfred said that he will do his best to fulfill his duties as a Council Chairman.

NBQ : National Bible Quiz

An eventful day for those who participated in the NBQ.

Congrats to these Boys for completing the Game with a Score of 5700 Credit Points.
The Boys were tested on their bible knowledge "gruesomely" in the Indoor Segment.
Followed by a hike through all the "towns", earning Credit Points with Both Brains and Brawl, coming up with strategies to earn the most Credit Points.

At the end of the quiz, our Boys are all worn out.

All NCO Council members have started to pickup their work pace.
We'll need to get more things done as the year comes to the end.
Soccer training is now officially part of our programme and there will be two matchs coming up against our "brother" company, 43rd - Yishun Secondary, and the Church's Youth Group, Young People, at the end of Sept.
This will earn the boys the following awards:
For the Sec 2 - fulfiling the NYAA's Physical recreation requirement.
For all who attends all the training - Sportsman Stage 1.

The Chairman and Vice-chairman have setted up the Squad system.
Boys have been allocated to one of the 3 availiable squads, A, B and C.
Names of the Squad have not been finalised yet, but that will be discussed with the Council members. Ideas and suggestions are welcomed. Pls tag ur ideas in the tag box.

BB Cares: Kidnap of Gary.

and so the story goes on to the actual day.
We manage to finish the props at the nick of time.
Set off for the Home at 8.30am.
Reached at ard 9am.
We sang a few songs with the children there.
Mayb they were shy, they din really want to sing along with us.
It was a bit difficult for the boys to mix ard with them, probably the 1st time visiting a children's home.
Well, the kids weren't really responsive till the skit performance part, some of them are more willing to interact with us, and by games time, the kids were playing with us as if we have known them for years.
As for our props, the large van made out of cardboard has became their toy and at the end of the day, our poor van has became pieces of cardboard after the intensive abuse by the kids.
At least they had fun, and so did we.
eventually, it was time for us to leave. At this point, one of the kids asked me a very sincere question which dumbfound us.
"Will u be visiting us again?"
a simple question yet so hard to answer.
all we could do was smile, fearing that the answer might break his little heart.

BB Cares: The Making

Tml is the actual day for our BB Cares project.
The boys will need to perform a skit to the children in the home, and according to plan they will need to finish the props for the skit by today so that they can hav a full dress rehearsel today.
But Dion has informed me that they have not even started making the props at all. He promised that they will be making it today after sch.
I dun think they have ever thot tat the props need time to dry, as they will be painting the props as well, and also, is there enough paint?
Huge uncertainty on the development of the props.
if the props cannot be completed on time, i really dunno how they are gonna pul this one off.

Coming Sat, 21 July, We'r gonna go to a children's Home for a visit as part of the BB Cares Project.
Bringing fun and laughter to the kids there is our mission.
Will be updating every1 of our progress and the outcome.

Dear all, I'm gonna buy some CDs from Amazon.com which are not available in Singapore. If u also wanna purchase some albums that are not made availiable to Singapore or too expensive to purchase through HVM, u can consider buying the CDs through me. wat i plan to do is collect ur requests, den i make a 1 time order to Amazon, so that the shipping fees can be shared among the items.
That way, it will be alot cheaper den buying on ur own.

Btw, if u intend to purchase CDs with explict content or songs that are unrighteous, i'll turn down ur request.

Our noticeboard is currently under renovation.
There will be more information in both leisure and badgeworks.
More picture updates.
considering to include a "wanted" section for ppl work dun come to parades.
But that might not be too gd an idea, so gonna scrape that section.
There will be a comic section for our very own BB comic and Babyblues comic strip.
There's a review secction also for our boys to introduce to their schoolmates on great food, great books and great shows.
Intend to put in a "Boy of the month" section, featuring our own boys and comments of wat the seniors and their friends think abt him.
with some much changes, there will be lots of work for the noticeboard ic and plenty of chance for the boys to practice journaling skills.

Adventure Quest

On the 31st March, our team of 5 adventurers, Team Advance, took part in the annual Adventure Quest race organized by the Boys' Brigade HQ.
The 10hr Race consist of a series of hiking on foot, cycling and kayaking which total up to 42km. That's further than soldiers normal training in the army.
On top of that, along the race, our boys have to accomplish a specific challenge at each major checkpoints, which includes abseiling from 7th story at SCDF and archery at Yishun ITE.
Team Advance did a Great Job in the race, and on behalf of all the Officers, I wanna thank all you guys for putting such great efforts in the race and the preparations and trainings for the race. We are proud of you.

A little girl went to her bedroom and pulled a glass jelly jar full of coins from its hiding place in the closet. She poured the change out on the floor and counted it carefully, three times, even. The total had to be exactly perfect. No chance here for mistakes. Carefully placing the coins back in the jar and twisting on the cap, she slipped out the back door and made her way 6 blocks to Rexall's Drug Store with the big red Indian Chief sign above the door. She waited patiently for the pharmacist to give her some attention but he was too busy at the moment. The little girl twisted her feet to make a scuffing noise to get the pharmacist's attention. Nothing. She cleared her throat with the most disgusting sound she could muster. No good. Finally she took a quarter from her jar and banged it on the glass counter. That did it! "And what do you want?" the pharmacist asked in an annoyed tone of voice. "I'm talking to my brother from Chicago whom I haven't seen in ages." He said without waiting for her reply to his question. "Well, I want to talk to you about my brother," The little girl answered back in the same annoyed tone. "He's really, really sick... and I want to buy a miracle." "I beg your pardon?" said the pharmacist. "His name is Andrew and he has something bad growing inside his head and my Daddy says only a miracle can save him now. So how much does a miracle cost?" "We don't sell miracles here, little girl. I'm sorry but I can't help you," the pharmacist said, softening a little. "Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn't enough, I will get the rest. Just tell me how much it costs." The pharmacist's brother was a well dressed man. He stooped down and asked the little girl, "What kind of a miracle does your brother need?" I don't know," The little girl replied with her eyes welling up. "I just know he's really sick and Mommy says he needs an operation. But my Daddy can't pay for it, so I want to use my money." "How much do you have?" asked the man from Chicago. "One dollar and twenty cents," The little girl answered barely audibly. "And it's all the money I have, but I can get some more if I need to." "Well, what a coincidence," smiled the man, "one dollar and twenty cents is the exact price of a miracle for little brothers. " He took her money in one hand and with the other hand he grasped her mitten and said "Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet your parents. Let's see if I have the miracle you need." That well dressed man was Dr. Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specializing in neuro-surgery. The operation was completed free of charge and it wasn't long until Andrew was home again and doing well. The little girl's mom and dad were happily talking about the chain of events that had led them to this place. "That surgery," her mom whispered, "was a real miracle. I wonder how much it would have cost?" The little girl smiled, because she knew exactly how much a miracle cost... one dollar and twenty cents... plus the faith of a little child..

Caught in a trench with continuous gunfire whizzing over his head, the soldier asked his lieutenant if he might go out into the "no man's land" between the trenches to bring his fallen comrade back."You can go," said the lieutenant, "but i don't think it will be worth it. Your friend is probably dead and you may throw your life away." The lieutenant's advice didn't matter, and the soldier went anyway. Miraculously he managed to reach his friend, hoist him onto his shoulder and bring him back to their company's trench. As the two of them tumbled in together to the bottom of the trench, the officer checked the wounded soldier, and then looked kindly at his friend."I told you it wouldn't be worth it," he said. "Your friend is dead and you are mortally wounded." "It was worth it, though, sir," said the soldier. "What do you mean; worth it?" responded the Lieutenant. The recruitment day is finally over.
Great turn-out, most of the boys came.
22 boys in total. its been a long time we had such great attendance.
the whole event was chaotic.
Ppl chasing after the sec1 just to "kidnap" them to their booth, to promote their CCA.
Well, we decided to use a softer approach rather then chasing a few kids n forcing them to our class room n scarying them.
It's unbelieveable to the Sec1s that "we" organise trips to the lan-gaming center.
Kids nowadays are so hard to convince.

Anyway, hope that this year's intake will be better.
